Penn State QB Trace McSorley dives toward the end zone during his second half touchdown that helped put PSU over Minnesota 29-26 at State College on Saturday, Oct. 1. 2016

(State College) — Saquon Barkley took a handoff and raced 25 yards for a touchdown on Penn State’s first play in overtime as the Nittany Lions rallied to beat Minnesota 29-26 Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

It was one of the only times Barkley was able to break free all day as the Gophers defense kept Penn State’s running game in check.

Once again the Lions were sluggish out of the gate and trailed 13-3 at halftime.

Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley got the Lions rolling in the third quarter with an 80-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Irvin Charles.

McSorley also scored on a 6 yard run.  He finished with 335 yards passing and 74 yards rushing in the game.

Lions kicker Tyler Davis converted all three field goal attempts to remain perfect on the season.  His 40 yarder with less than a minute to play forced overtime.

Penn State had zero turnovers for the first time this season.

Next up for the Lions is Maryland on Saturday, October 8th at Beaver Stadium.
