(State College) — It may be a bit soggy at Beaver Stadium this afternoon when Penn State hosts the Minnesota Golden Gophers for their first Big Ten home game of the season.

Forecasters are calling for rain and drizzle during your tailgate time, tapering off to just a chance of showers by the time things get started at 3:30pm.

The wounded Lions are 2-2 and coming off a 49-10 pounding at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines last Saturday in Ann Arbor.

The defense remains banged up with all three of their opening day starting linebackers still not expected to play.

They’ll have their hands full with the 3-0 Gophers who have averaged 40 points per game on offense this season and have scored touchdowns in all but one trip to the red zone.

It’s the first of three consecutive home games for the Nittany Lions.

They’ll host Maryland on October 8th, followed by a week off on the 15th and a night game against Ohio State on the 22nd.
