Postscript | Marie Antoinette

Watch on WITF TV and the PBS Video app, then listen in as Beth Cappello, WITF’s Project Manager, and PBS Drama fan, Christina Zeiders, WITF’s Communications Specialist, talk about the new PBS show, Marie Antoinette. They’ll recap and react to each episode, explore stand-out moments that piqued their curiosities, and invite you to share the pieces you wonder and love about the show.

Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is just a teenager when she leaves Austria to marry the Dauphin of France. At Versailles, under the complex rules of the French court, she suffers from not being able to live her life the way she wants, under pressure to continue the Bourbon line and secure the Franco-Austrian alliance.

Christina Zeiders is a lover of small creatures. She lives with two rescue dogs, four rescue cats, and a human fiancé. Menolly is her truest soulmate, a chihuahua who alternates between sweetness and rage, and Cici is a Jack Russell-chihuahua mix who is the most awkward cuddler but loves to give sloppy kisses. Catbug is the sweetest Siamese, Panthor and She-Ra are both black cats – a warrior and cuddler, respectively – and Baba Yaga is the nixiest-naughtiest of all tuxedo cats. Christina’s human fiancé, Matt, is the driving force behind turning a home into the most wonderful and chaotic petting zoo.

Beth Cappello loves all types of animals. Her favorites are turtles, giraffes, and sugar gliders. If possible, her home would be full of many animals, inside and outside the home, but her family may not approve. Currently, the household has two puppies, both at the age of 9 years. Yes, they are always referred to as puppies. Cookie is a sassy Terrier mix whose face shows up on all the dog food ads as if she is a model herself (she looks just like a Westie), although we don’t see any of the profits. Jake is a three-legged Anatolian Shepherd and Black Mouth Cur mix who has the biggest empathetic heart of any dog anyone has ever met.

Scottish actor Nicholas Ralph stars as veterinarian James Herriot at the start of his storied career in rural 1930s Yorkshire. Co-starring are Samuel West, Anna Madeley, Callum Woodhouse, and Rachel Shenton – plus an engaging cast of horses, cattle, dogs and cats. The series is an adaptation of Herriot’s bestselling memoir and a reimagining of the popular drama that aired on British and American television from 1978 until 1990.
