An 18-year-old Biglerville resident, reported missing earlier this week, was found dead on Wednesday, according to a news release from state police.

Alejandro Morales was reported missing by his family on Monday at about 9:10 p.m. after he left his home and did not return, according to the news release.

After a search near Conewago Creek, state police found a body that was later positively identified as Morales, according to the news release.

Matt Lowenthal, a teacher with the 21st Century Learning Program, who taught Morales in a summer enrichment program, said that he was one of the kindest, funniest students he had ever met.

“He touched my heart … we loved him very much,” Lowenthal said.

Troopers from the Gettysburg station, along with Biglerville Hose and Truck Company No. 1, found Morales near Stone Jug Road and Benders Church Road.

State police attempted to search near the creek on Tuesday and requested assistance from the state Fish and Boat Commission and the Game Commission. The search was eventually suspended because of rising waters and continuing rain.

State Police Gettysburg Criminal Investigation Unit and the Adams County Coroner’s office continue to conduct a death investigation.
