Lisa Young–Making a Difference in the Lives of Young Children

Lisa Young is the Education Director at the Goddard School in York. Lisa, who got her Elementary education degree from Shippensburg and is working on her masters in early education and curriculum at Penn State York, impacts the very youngest learners in our community on a daily basis.

Lisa has worked with children her entire career, teaching swimming lessons for 16 years and working in early education for 10 years. As education director at the Goddard School, Lisa is able to support, equip and encourage teachers with resources and ideas. Her work enables infant, toddler, preschool and kindergarten teachers to implement best practices in their classrooms.

It has been Lisa’s passion to support young children…that drives her work every day. She has a unique understanding of the needs and powerful emotions of young children. Lisa utilizes the online resource of PBSKids.org in the classroom. Her 4 and 5 year old students enjoy interacting with and playing the educational games on the site. And she relies on PBSKids.org as go-to resource that aligns with her teaching standards and curriculum. She’s come to trust public broadcasting as a safe haven for “edutainment” for her kids. WITF congratulates Lisa Young for her vital community service and commitment to education.

WITF’s American Graduate Day project is made possible by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and is supported regionally by Orrstown Bank, by the Harrisburg, Mont Alto and York Campuses of Penn State, and by York College of Pennsylvania.
