Central PA Spelling Bee on WITF TV
WITF is looking forward to welcoming some of our region’s best and brightest students to the Public Media Center for the written portion of the WITF Central PA Spelling Bee this Sunday, January 25. The 162 students that qualified are made up of fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students who won their individual school’s spelling bees. This year, 58 schools registered to participate from 10 surrounding counties. The students who score highest on the 100-word written test on Sunday will advance to the Grand Championship Spelling Bee.
The 2015 Grand Championship Spelling Bee will take place at the WITF Public Media Center on February 28 and will be televised on WITF -TV:
- Sunday, March 1 at 6:00 pm
- Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 pm
- Friday March 6 at 1:00 pm
There can only be one winner at the Grand Championship Bee and that speller will move on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee held near Washington, D.C. in late May.
