Aparajita Rao, the winner of witf’s 2014 Central PA Spelling Bee, tied for 13th place in the Scripps National Spelling Bee!

The national bee was held May 28th and 29th at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.  This year, 281 spellers competed for the title of 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion.

Rao, who won the witf spelling bee two years in a row,  correctly spelled words like “paparazzo” and “aristarch” to tie for 13th place.  However, only the top 12 spellers advanced to the finals.  Sriram Hathwar and Ansun Sujoe were the last two spellers standing and were both named 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion.

We would like to congratulate Aparajita on her success!  What an accomplishment!
